Happy Friday guys! This week I was on the road a lot and my body can tell it's time for a weekend! Heath and Andy have headed off to Charleston this weekend to visit Andy's sister. Andy's sister is so much fun so I know they'll have a blast, plus it seems like an awesome restaurant opens every other week in Charleston so I'm sure they'll have no shortage of things to do.
J.D., Virginia and I are laying low just hanging out at home this weekend. We're planning on a walk to the park, college football, and really not much else. Should be amazing!
I don't have fun links for you today (sorry guys, that's Heath's department!) but I do have a question for all of you mamas out there - HOW DO YOU KEEP IT TOGETHER?! Seriously, especially you working mamas! There are weeks where things click, and there are weeks where I fall short. Fortunately Virginia's not old enough to tell me I'm falling short, and J.D. is wayyyyy to sweet and always makes me feel like I have it together, even when I offer him eggs for dinner three nights in a row. But, seriously, I'd love to hear, even from friends who aren't moms (b/c I didn't have it all together before becoming a mom either!) Any little tips you do to stay organized, stay on top of things, and most importantly, tips you incorporate to somehow manage to truly have a relaxing weekend? Because the truth is, even though above I said we aren't planning on much, I didn't mention laundry, cleaning, yard work, grocery shopping, and getting Virginia fall clothes that fit! Doesn't sound so relaxing anymore. :)
Have a good weekend guys!

Love your blog--so much good inspiration. I'm a mom of three teenage boys (yes, the grocery bill is ridiculous) and while I could go on about things my husband and I have learned over the years about holding it all together--and how often we fall short of that ourselves!--I'll just give you one weekend tip. When the boys were younger, we would hire a babysitter on Saturday night from 5-9 p.m. At 5, we would go to the gym or go for a run together and end up at the gym to shower and change. We'd have dinner around 6:30 and get home just after the babysitter put the boys to bed. Then we'd have a quiet, clean house to ourselves. I'm telling you--the best four hours of the weekend some weeks! You get your workout, so you're not stressed out. You get your time away. And you get some nice down time at home. Hope you'll try it--it works!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen! Love this idea and thanks for sharing! I have a few friends who take their kids to MonkeyJoes (playhouse) for them to run around all night while they have a date night. Similar concept and so smart! BUT, I'm super impressed that yall would work out during that time too. I'm way too lazy on Saturday night! :) Thanks for reading!
