Brand Love | The Horse

MK just introduced me to the most gorgeous Australian line of watches, The Horse. They are simple and classic and everything I love in a watch. The company's background is in shoemaking and while I really like their black booties that are of course sold out, I really fell in love with the simplicity in the watches.

The company's founders, Scott and Amy, followed in Scott's great grandfather's footsteps in bootmaking. To them, "It's not about another shoe for market. Both Scott & Amy want a leather shoe that shows craftsmanship and not tricked-up trends." They have truly set out to design a beautiful functional shoe and succeeded in all ways.

I'm just about dying to own the polished rose gold and blush leather original.  It's crazy gorgeous, don't you think?!

Brand Love | Lizzie Fortunato

Have you guys heard of Lizzie Fortunato?  Twin sisters, Lizzie and Kathryn Fortunato, created this uber cool jewelry line in 2008.  With Lizzie running the creative while Kathryn manages operations and sales, together the sisters create "unique accessories that use unexpected materials and champion handicrafts from a breadth of places and cultures."  Each piece of their jewelry is unique in it's own way,  from statement necklaces to simple modern earrings, the brand nails it with their designs every time.

Bonus points for being ridiculously cute too! The sisters, pictured above, recently branched into the leather goods as well and it's no surprise they're killing it there too.  The colors in this one are so good!

Are you drooling yet? This simple leather necklace is pretty high on my list! Which piece is your favorite?

My look, Her Look, Mom's Look

It's been WAY too long since I've done a My Look, Her Look, Mom's Look but I'm excited to bring it back today. I've been dreaming about the shoes above since the first day I laid eyes on the Loeffler Randall Spring/Summer campaign. They are the perfect combination of casual and dressy all in one. There are not many places I go that these shoes would not be acceptable. From biking to a game in the outfit I pulled together below, to a date night thrown on with a dress or skirt like in MK's outfit or if you're lucky enough for sandals to be appropriate for work mom's outfit would definitely be a go to me!
denim shorts | stripe t-shirt | necklace | sunglasses | watch | backpack
My look is super casual and comfortable. That's the main reason I love these shoes. If I spend too long trying on an outfit I tend to always just grab my most comfortable shoes. In the winter that's a pair of thick heeled grey booties and I've been on the hunt for a summer pair to fit this need. I think these may just be the ticket!
bucket bag | sheer stripe shirt | brass necklace | chambray skirt | gold hoop earrings | wallet
I'm kind of obsessed with the outfit I pulled together for MK. It's hard to see in the image above but that top is slightly sheer in between each stripe. I love that! The colors are so soft and feminine but the sheer makes it a little edgy. That top combined with the gorgeous white bucket bag is the perfect combination!
navy pants | red sweater | white button down | gold hoop earrings | perforated bag | gold collar necklace | glasses
I love that this look is equally appropriate for my mom but for really for anyone in a professional environment too! I honestly think most people own something similar to all of the pieces shown above, minus the cool collar necklace, but throw on a fun new pair of shoes and your outfit is instantly transformed.

Which is your favorite? I'm really digging MK's look this time!

Cuffs Continued....

I found my perfect cuff!  Remember when we did this round up of  Forever Jewelry Pieces a while back?  Well our first pick was a classic cuff, and one found it's way under my Christmas tree this year.  Often we post about stuff we never (can afford to) buy, but this whole series is an idea I love and I'm truly trying to implement!  My grandparents were sweet to suggest that I pick out a cuff from them this year for Christmas, and I landed on the top right one you see above.  I love it, it's big and makes a statement and it's not something that I'll wear everyday, but I think it will make an outfit when I do wear it, and I'll enjoy it for years and years.  My grandmother called it an "evening piece" and I like that...maybe I'll wear it on a date night soon.  It's by Giles & Brother and it's the Original Cortina Cuff, but it's also available in a Skinny and even smaller Mini version.  I love them all.  Anyone else add a cuff to their wardrobe this year?

Brand love | Geoflora Jewelry

You guys I found the coolest local Charlotte jewelry brand, Geoflora!  Made by two identical twin sisters Ellen and Margaret Hinrichs, right here in North Carolina.  Their focus is on mixed media paired with traditional metalsmithing techniques.  I also love how they each have their own style and pieces. Their Etsy profile explains that "Margaret references specific plants and flora to create new, fresh, organically rooted jewelry. Ellen plays with angles and patterns along with some custom jewelry styles to create a modern take on classics."  Together their unique styles create one really cool line.  This, this and this are my favorites! But check out their entire line here.

Brand Love | Need Supply

I'm loving this new to me brand Need Supply that I found through Note to Self.  A lot of these pieces really remind me of the pieces that Steven Alan carries and a few other favorites that we've mentioned before, but they're a fraction of the price.  I tend to dress more conservative, a little pretty, so I like that these pieces add a little more of an polished edge.  I'm eyeing these V earrings - so much less expensive than the original pair I fell in love with.  A few pieces are even 20% off now if you're looking for a few last minute gifts.

the PERFECT STACK | Christina Jervey

Today we have another addition of The Perfect Stack with Christina Jervey. We've featured her work on the blog multiple times so I'm sure you already know we're big fans! Today she shared a few thoughts on stacking in general and a few of her favorites, take a look...

We asked Christina what's "the perfect stack" to you?

The Perfect Stack | Jane Pope

We're kind of obsessed with "stack rings" or combinations of different rings around here, and  we're really excited that they seem to be getting popular.  We reached out to a handful of our favorite jewelry designers to ask, "What's The Perfect Stack?"  Today we're thrilled to show off selections from Jane Pope of Jane Pope Jewelry.  See below for some of Jane's favorite ring stacks, as well as her thoughts on what makes the perfect combination!

Forever Pieces | The Classic Cuff

I've mentioned too many times that I have a jewelry uniform.  I think one of the reasons I just stick to the same ole thing over and over again when it comes to jewelry is because I think costume jewelry is SO expensive.  I love all of the beautiful stuff I see out there, but it just kills me to pay for a trendy costume piece that costs as much as a cute new top.  But, I do think that jewelry can make an outfit.  Often, I won't be in love with something and as soon as Heath accessorizes it, it's a completely different look.  Or, one time I stayed at my grandparent's house before driving to a bridesmaids' luncheon in Atlanta.  As I was dressed and ready, my grandmother said, "do you not have a necklace or anything to add to that," she went to her jewelry box and brought out three for me to try.  I left with one of them and thought, when your grandmother is accessorizing your outfits, this is clearly an area of yours that needs improvement!!

So, we're starting a series of jewelry pieces that you'll keep forever - forever pieces.  Pieces that may be more "in style" some years than others, pieces that may be a splurgy, but timeless pieces that you'll be wearing for the rest of your life, including when you're a grandmother. :)

First up, the classic cuff.  I love a good classic cuff, they make a statement and speak for themselves.  Really little to no other jewelry is needed when you wear a beautiful statement cuff.  They're enough on their own and they'll never be out of style.

What do you think?  In my dreams I could afford one of the beauties at the top, but more realistically I am thinking one of the more modern (and affordable!) edgy options may be better.  I really love both pieces from Julie Vos, too.

Steven Alan's Jewelry

Overall my style definitely is pretty classic.  I have a jewelry "uniform" that I wear just about everyday, and really don't change it up much most days.  (Gold hoops from my parents, two bracelets from my grandparents, and my wedding and engagement rings.  Those are my go-tos.)  They make up my uniform for a reason (I love them!) but every now and then I think it's good to switch it up.  Heath's better about switching up jewelry, and it can completely change a look.  When we were in Chicago, we stopped in Steven Alan and I fell in love with so many pieces of their jewelry.  Their pieces are pricier than just typical costume jewelry, but I felt like everything I saw was timeless, pieces that you'd keep forever.  Really classic designs that just felt up to date, and maybe a little edgy in a good way.

I didn't get any jewelry, but I probably would have walked out of there with that V earring if they had it in stock!  A handful of their earrings are sold separately so you can mix and match them.  How perfect would a V be paired with that gold knot?  And these are way over my budget, but I LOVE them!!  What do you think?

Mignonne Gavigan Collection

Yesterday while reading Look Linger Love I discovered Mignonne Gavigan's collection. If you've never seen her work before you are in for a treat! Each piece is handmade and meticulously crafted to create a unique piece. I seriously LOVE every single one of them!
While most of her necklaces are out of my price range, she has a few bracelets and smaller necklaces that you may be able to splurge on. The best part about these pieces is that they make an outfit - from jeans and a white t-shirt to a basic black dress a necklace with this much oomph makes any outfit special.

Oh and I have to mention that this talented lady grew up in Charlotte, NC before moving to Paris and eventually New York to launch her career. Read more about the designer here and a great interview here.

Isn't everything gorgeous?

Studs for every Style

I'm always drawn to very simple styles and always (always!) gold jewelry. I don't know what it is about  gold but I've always been a lover of gold from a very young age. It's not a surprise that I've been really thinking about gold studs lately. In my daily wardrobe I keep my jewelry pretty simple and classic to go with my work wardrobe and pretty much daily I think to myself I need a simple gold stud with this outfit. So when MK recently asked me to pull together some options for studs (Virginia has entered the pull on any and all jewelry stage) I happily obliged.

There are so many options available right now for studs, they're all over the place and range in price from $10 and up. I'm certain there is a pair for everyone in this little round up.

Christina Jervey Handcrafted Jewelry

I typically stick to a jewelry "uniform" when I get ready in the morning.  I just about wear the same two bracelets and my go to gold oval hoop earrings almost every day, every now and then switching up my earrings.  Heath's really good about mixing and matching jewelry, combining jewelry to dress up a basic black pencil skirt for work and then using the same pieces to dress up casual outfits on weekends.  She turned me on to Christina Jervey's Jewelry and all of these pieces really make me want to pay more attention to jewelry.

Chritina Jervey's pieces look classic, but they still have a little edginess to them.  Christy studied metalsmithing at Penland School of Craft and currently creates and designs all of her pieces in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, just outside of Charleston.  Her pieces are inspired by nature and show a definite appreciation for simplicity and detail.  I could see myself wearing just about all of them.

She also does AMAZING custom work.  Just about every other day I see something on her Instagram feed that I'm in love with.  If you're in the market for a custom piece, a stack ring, or even an interesting wedding band, I'd give her a call!  I'm sure she would come up with something far more beautiful than what you would see at your everyday jeweler.
