Happy Friday
Good morning and happy Friday guys! We had no intention of letting the blog go but the past few weeks have been crazy in the best way possible. A few weeks ago MK mentioned Andy and I had some very exciting personal news... we didn't want to share until everything was final but on Wednesday of this week we closed on a house! We're so excited! We aren't moving in quite yet but my head is already spinning with all sorts of decorating, painting, and maybe some minor renovations too. Now that it's ours I'm sure you'll be seeing more about everything shortly and I'll of course be asking for advice throughout the process. Thanks for being patient with us as we navigate the next few busy weeks.
Andy and I are going to whip up a yummy dinner this weekend to properly celebrate and this delicious pasta looks perfect with some rose don't you think?!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
- Heath
Happy Friday
Happy Friday guys! We finally made it to the weekend! I don't know what it was this week but I was dragging big time! I'm needing this weekend to regroup and relax.
Heath and her best friends from college met in Portland, Maine this weekend for their annual girls' trip! I'm so excited for them and jealous. I've been hearing about this trip for a few months but I just realized they were in Maine and not Oregon. :) I've never been to Maine but it's on my list for sure - Heath was a nanny there for an entire summer one year and raves about! Can't wait to see pictures when they get back.
J.D.'s going to a best friends's wedding this weekend, and Virginia and I are hanging out and having girl time. I'm excited to do simple stuff like grocery shop, go on neighborhood walks and get frozen yogurt.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
~Mary Keller
This amazing image was found here! I don't think it's Maine, but this summer beach party looks unreal.
Friday Findings
Happy Friday guys! This week was a quick one but I'm looking forward to the weekend more than ever . MK and JD are off to Atlanta to visit some friends which means I get lots of Virginia time. I can't wait - that girl is growing up too fast for me to keep up so I'm soaking up every minute when I can.
A few things we found this week...
ONE | Loved this post MK bookmarked on Camille Styles this week. I'm not quite the entertainer MK is, but I love trying new recipes and these Middle Eastern ones sound amazingly similar to the Turkish food we feel in love with last year.
TWO | I found Little Mustard Seed via Lulie Wallace's instagram and I'm completely hooked. I'm now dying to have a print of my grandmother's house where Andy and I were married. Also the perfect gift for a first home!
THREE | I found a cool new-to-me site, Daily Overview. It's full of overhead shots all across the world. I discovered it recently via Design Sponge and it fulfills the inner child in me that still stares out airplane windows and is fascinated by our earth constantly!
FOUR | I love this post on tips for a healthy happy home. I'm a big believer in #1 - "nothing is too precious to use". Andy and I regularly have cocktails in our "nice glasses" and make a point to use our wedding china regularly. Otherwise I see no reason to store it!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday friends! What is everyone up to this weekend? Andy and I are in town for what seems like the first weekend in ages. We're planning to take full advantage, grabbing drinks with some friends tonight, a baby shower tomorrow and lots of cooking!
MK is off to Chicago for work and strangely enough JD is off to Chicago as well to celebrate a milestone birthday for his dad! They're going to a cubs game and enjoying a classic Chicago steak. Sounds so fun!
A few things we found around the web...
ONE | Happy to see Lauren from Perpetually Chic is blogging again. I've always enjoyed her posts and her latest favorite cookbooks is no exception. I've bookmarked "Seasons" next, a perfect compliment to our weekly CSA loot!
TWO | Victoria posted this super easy recipe for sangria and I'm almost ashamed to admit it never even crossed my mind to use frozen fruit before now. It's simple yet genius right? I love a pre-made cocktail so I bookmarked the fancy version for another day too!
THREE | Confession - Andy keeps every single one of our plants alive. So while I'm not overly knowledgeable about this area I have strong feelings and I LOVE the feeling plants give a room. After reading Chanel Dror's post on Camille Styles I've now added a snake plant and a golden pothos to my list!
FOUR | I'm a total sucker for a home renovation, especially a kitchen! I was just telling Andy last night throughout all our home searching it's funny how many kitchens I've remodeled in my head. This Domaine renovation didn't have major structural changes but a complete refresh of the home, and that range is dreamy!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday friends! Hope everyone had a wonderful week. Heath and Andy are off to Pennsylvania again this weekend - friends are joking they should just move there already :). This time they're visiting Andy's family so it's a little different than the past two times. They're excited to spend time with family and for cooler weather! Sadly's they're missing Steak Club, but I know the rest of the gang will enjoy it. Other than Steak Club, our weekend includes a friend's fun 2 year old birthday and lots of relaxing. Hope you have something fun planned!
A few things we found this week...
ONE | Southern Living has a great piece interviewing 13 Southern Chefs and Bartenders on the next big food trends. I like the sound of adding cava to the list of popular drinks like rose and bubbly. I don't think I've ever tried cava. I also like the line "Hipster hospitality has run it's course...". JD will like hearing that.
TWO | I absolutely loved this post on Camille Styles on time savings tips when you get home from the grocery store. I began reading thinking it would be the usual wash things as you bring them home, etc., but I actually picked up a few more tips that I'm really going to try to make part of my weekend routine. A homemade salad dressing the for the week, a pitcher of lemon water for the weekend, soaking a batch of beans or grains, plus much more. These should make healthy eating during the week easier.
THREE | Big Sur, California was already part of my always growing list of places I really want to visit, and this trip recap from Fresh Exchange just made me more excited to visit at some point in my life. I really want to explore Big Sur as part of a trip driving down California's coast. Doesn't that sound like an amazing trip to do with another couple? (Something about exploring California while driving along the coast sounds less relaxing with kiddos. I'm thinking it's a couples or when children are older and don't hate the car kinda trip!)
FOUR | Yea - Matine's sample sale is now live! Good time to scoop up any leather goods you've been coveting!
Last thing - my good friend Carrie Lamarca did a piece on Teen Vogue sharing tips using liquid brozers! I'm so proud of her! She's gotten way too big time to give her tips away on little Southland Avenue, but fortunately when I see her she does pass along tips for me to share. :)
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday guys! What is everyone doing this weekend? I'm excited we have a friend coming into town from Tennessee and are catching a baseball game this evening. Otherwise we're not doing much but it should be really nice to relax and enjoy a weekend at home in Charlotte.
A few findings to get your weekend started...
ONE | Victoria shared this article from the Wall Street Journal and it really resonated with me. I don't know about you guys but I've been having less and less luck at J.Crew lately. It's frustrating because what used to be a go to spot is now just striking out with high prices and strange fits. I'm curious your thoughts...
TWO | Joanna shared this article from the Boston Globe about slow parenting. While I'm not a parent I can still appreciate the concept and actually thought about it last night while babysitting Virginia. Andy and I took her for a ride on her tricycle and she was perfectly content at one point watching the squirels, cats, and birds running around everywhere. She was in heaven and instead of saying OK V let's keep moving I just let her watch them play. She would blow them kisses and stick her tongue out at them like they were her little friends, so sweet!
THREE | Can someone please find a reasonable version of these flats?! I first noticed these flats here and have since found this slightly less expensive Michael Kors version but I'm dying to find a reasonable pair. Help I LOVE 'em!
FOUR | This article on Domaine, 16 gorgeous vacation rentals around the world, caught my attention. How gorgeous are these rentals? A lot of them are reasonable too. I have a dream for my 40th birthday all my favorite people will join me in renting a villa in Italy. I bookmarked both Italian villas and I'm crossing my fingers it happens one day!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

TGIF! So excited the long weekend is here! Anyone up to something fun?! We're headed to the beach for a family reunion with my mom's side of the family. We'll be seeing cousins and aunts and uncles who we haven't seen in years, and meeting kiddos we've never gotten to meet. It should be so much fun in a crazy, chaotic way - lots of people, lots of food, and my mom's even planned a birthday luau for my aunt. Should be a good time, and I can't wait to see my little Virginia running on the beach.
A few things before we hit the beach....
ONE | I loved this little post on what Jamie "knows" after celebrating a recent birthday. I was nodding my head along with so many things - I always feel better when I do my hair and get dressed, exercise, every once in a while have one too many drinks, etc. What would you add? I'd add that I know I need time with my family when things get crazy busy.
TWO | Do you guys follow 9to5 Chic? Heath said she thinks she can do no wrong lately, and I have to agree. She's at the tippy top of my list of style icons, and even though I can't afford anything she wears, it's still fun to dream.
THREE | Have you guys heard of House Account? The Love List did a great piece on this new app. (Fun fact Charlotte friends- this app was created by owner of Capitol, Laura Vinroot! I had no idea!) I haven't ever used House Account but it seems like a clever way to support small, local business with the ease of online shopping. I have to say, I shop online far too often now with Virginia around, but I hate how mainstream clothes are online. This may be the solution!
FOUR | Would you ever have a Stranger Dinner Party? Jordan (dinner party guru) hosted a dinner party where everyone she invited was asked to bring along a different guest who Jordan didn't know. Doesn't that sound like such a fun idea? It would be a great way to meet more people. (Image included here is from a past Blue Apron dinner party she threw with friends - another good idea for quickly throwing a weeknight dinner party.)
Hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend! A million thank yous to everyone who has served or is serving in our armed forces - Happy Memorial Day to you all!!

Happy Friday guys! I'm so ready for the weekend! Heath & Andy are actually heading to New York for the weekend to spend a fun little weekend in the city - another Kayak Explore crazy deal find! J.D., Virginia and I are sticking close to home and have plans to go to the Quail Hollow tournament tomorrow. It's always so much fun and one of my favorite weekends of the year. I love just walking around, being in the sunshine and seeing all the golfers. Should be a really fun time.
A few things that caught our attention before we head into the weekend....
ONE | The Love List ran a great interview with the jewelry designer behind this amazing Goldbug Collection. I love these little goldbugs! I gave my mom a pair of earrings as a thank you for keeping Virginia one weekend, and I officially think I may need a pair of my own!
TWO | Are you guys seeing this book everywhere lately? I feel like I keep seeing it everywhere! I did a pretty major purge in January, but I'm curious to read this book and maybe get rid of even more stuff.
THREE | Emily Henderson has a few simple tips on outdoor entertaining. These pictures have me wanting to invite friends over again for a casual dinner before it gets way too hot.
FOUR | Heath bookmarked this feature on "chic hostels" on Domaine. She actually said, "I'm book marking this for myself, not you MK!" Have you guys ever stayed in a hostel? I haven't (and don't really plan to!). Heath is a true adventurer and will happily stay in a hostel, and some of these look cool enough that I could maybe get on board with them! Heath and Andy are actually staying in a hostel like place this weekend that she's heard great things about so we'll have her report back! :)
Have a good weekend guys! Cheers to Friday!

Happy Friday friends! Man I’m happy the weekend is here. We have no real plans which makes me pretty happy. We’re in the middle of one of those stretches of life that has you going out of town almost every other weekend so it’s nice to have a weekend off to relax in Charlotte. I’m hoping to have lunch with my mom too to celebrate what a wonderful woman she is. Hope you guys are doing something wonderful for the mamas in your life!
A few findings to get your weekend started…
ONE | Jordan and the Oh Happy Day team just launched a new online party store. Perfect of those of us who have been following her well curated blog but may not have time for all the DIYs! How awesome are these candles?!
TWO | A little while ago I tried a chocolate chip scone from my favorite Charlotte bakery and have been obsessed with scones ever since. I've tried one recipe with no success but I think I may give this Bon Appetite recipe a try this weekend. Their recipes never let me down!
THREE | One of my favorite parts of traveling is picking up souvenirs to bring home. The Everygirl put together a great article with different items to keep your eye on while traveling. I'm usually drawn to food and and locally made items, they make me so happy to see/use years laters!
FOUR | Jenny from Dinner a Love Story posted about birthday traditions this week. I love the idea of creating traditions specific for someone's special day. Do you have any fun birthday traditions? And if you have access to Grater's ice-cream near you try the coconut chocolate chip, amazing!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
- Heath
PS love this no-restaurant vacation article from Dinner a Love Story too!

Happy Friday guys! Glad to see the weekend is here, and it's finally feeling a little like spring again. What are you guys up to this weekend? Heath and Andy are headed to Pennsylvania to meet some best friends' sweet new baby girl Millie. She looks like a doll and I know they'll have a lot of fun.
J.D., Virginia and I are pretty much doing nothing! And we couldn't be more excited. Our babysitter peddled by on bike yesterday and mentioned she had no weekend plans so we snagged her for a last minute date tonight. I haven't gone on a date with J.D. since January (so much for this relationship resolution) so I'm excited! Other than that, we'll be sipping Mint Juleps with our neighbors for the Derby and relaxing.
Before we head into the weekend, a few things that caught our eye....
ONE | Town and Country has a great spread on 6 drinks for the Derby - I'm liking the sound of the Kentucky Gambler Punch.
TWO | The Everygirl shares 6 Cut and Color Trends for Summer Hair. I'm getting a major itch to do something with my hair, something more than the same ole 2" trim.
THREE | If you prefer celebrating Cinco De Mayo instead of the Derby, the Everygirl also is sharing how to create the Perfect Margarita Bar. Love this, and I'll be book marking for a future girls night!
FOUR | Last thing - a few weeks ago I shared my Mother's Day "wish list" just for fun! The awesome folks at Love and Victory have generously offered 15% off on Custom Paper Silhouettes. It may be too late for mothers day, but go ahead and stock up on this gift. I have a traditional black silhouette of Virginia, but this seems SO much more playful and fun. I think grandmamas would like these too. :) Use code SOUTHLAND for 15% off your order!
Have a good one guys!

Happy Friday guys! Hope everyone had a good week! MK is in the Hamptons this weekend for a girls weekend and I am very very very jealous. Doesn't that sounds wonderful?! Andy and I have a low key weekend of food truck Friday and maybe a anniversary dinner here. Any Charlotte folks been? I've heard wonderful things, but it's so hard to drag me out of my little city bubble!
JD's parents are in town visiting/helping out with Virginia while MK is away. I'm sure V will be in heaven with all the attention and love from her grandparents!
A few findings to get your weekend started...
ONE | This asparagus pasta dish from Fresh Exchange sounds like the perfect spring dish. I'm looking forward to some dinners al fresco, it really is my favorite time of the year. Megan recommends serving it with a rose which reminded me I haven't had any yet. Now a must for this weekend!
TWO | It's official I've become obsessed with lighting! How cool is this chandelier in Sally King Benedict's home featured on Lark and Linen? Her entire home is beautiful but this chandelier stopped me in my tracks.
THREE | I'm sure it's no surprise, I love a good sister duo so I love the My Sister My Sidekick series on Say Yes! The latest with the sisters behind the brand Sonnet James is no exception. What a cool brand - one sister behind the design, one behind the lens and their sister in law modeling the clothing. Isn't that awesome?!
FOUR | Victoria talked about the never ending quest for work/life balance this week. I always find it interesting how people manage their day to day lives. I think it's the absolute hardest balance to find no matter your profession! And bonus - the post is a link up so click through to learn how lots of others juggle the two as well.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
- Heath
Happy Friday
Happy Friday guys! This week flew by and I will not complain. We're all headed to Pittsburgh today for a good friends wedding. We've never been and have heard SUCH good things! In between parties and celebrating the happy couple we're planning to catch some coverage of the Masters, it's definitely my favorite golf tournament of the year, and one of my favorite sporting events. I'm totally team Speith this year!! Anyone have any big plans?
Before the weekend officially starts, a few good reads for your Friday...
ONE: I bookmarked this post on Back down South, for a bottled mint julep. They'd be perfect for a Derby party or any party really! Who wouldn't want all the work in crafting a good cocktail complete before guests arrive for a party?!
TWO: Is there anything better than a good ice cream sandwich? I haven't had one in years but these from Apartment 34 look so good! I want to make them for my next dinner party. I love a good old fashion childhood dessert at a grown up dinner party.
THREE: I LOVE this article on the Garden and Gun blog about engraving traditions. My grandmother has given us engraved mint julep cups through the years and they are some of my favorite items. I love seeing both my old monogram (maiden name) and new monogram side by side!
FOUR: I always check Design Sponge before any travels, they have so many good travel posts and Pittsburgh is no exception! They're usually written by locals and they update them periodically for new spots in each city. Check out all their city guides here.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!
- Heath
PS I found a new photo book/printing site, Printstagram, I want to share too!
Happy Friday
Happy Friday guys! Hope everyone had a nice week. I'm so looking forward to this weekend! My parents are coming into town on Sunday for Easter. We're doing lots of cooking for Easter Brunch and an egg hunt for Virginia too. She's at the best age right now, I love spending time with that sweet girl. And I saw the video from her school egg so I can't wait to see her in action!
A few things that caught our eye to get you weekend started...
ONE: I loved this article "12 Artists You Need to Know" on Glitter Guide this week. Chassity Evans pulled together 12 artists you may not have heard of yet and they're all so talented it's hard to pick a favorite. I can't not mention Laura Naples and Kristen Giorgi though, I just can't get enough of all their work! Remember their gorgeous homes here and here.
TWO: Domaine Home released "7 Young Interior Designers to Watch" this week and this image caught my eye. That light is amazing right?! After MK's post earlier this week I've been noticing lighting more and more and it can make such a big impact on a room.
THREE: I know I'm a broken record with the whole French Five concept, but if you're not tired of hearing about it Everygirl released an article about creating a Capsule Collection that got my attention. I've been doing French Five for almost a year now and I really love it!
FOUR: I am the opposite of a DIYer but I would really really like for someone to make me a hand full of these gorgeous DIY placemats. I'm always on the look out of fun and casual linens to offset the otherwise formal feel of my antique dining room furniture. These would be gorgeous with green in my house!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend!

Happy Friday guys! So excited the weekend is here. Whew, this week has been a tiring one! Today I'm cutting out a little early to go to Virginia's school Easter egg hunt! I'm so excited! I had a very "wow, I am a mom moment" as I stuffed Easter eggs for her class this week. She's going to have so much fun running around with everyone. Afterwards, if I'm super lucky, I may try to talk J.D. into taking us out for pizza. :)
Before we head into the weekend, a few things (on Instagram) that caught our attention this week. Funny enough Heath & I pretty much book marked the exact same things....
ONE | I wear flats all the time, but I'm thinking I need to switch things up this spring and get at least one pair of fun (date night/girls night) heels. I'm loving these I saw from Monkee's of Wilmington.
TWO | We eat salmon at least every other week around here, so I've booked marked The Yellow Table's miso glazed salmon. Sounds so good and I swear salmon is the all time easiest dinner.
THREE | I've been checking out Marth Stewart's ideas for spring blooms trying to brainstorm Easter ideas. Is anyone else hosting Easter?
FOUR | I am completely obsessed with this Jane Pope bangle. This just may have to be the next "forever" piece that I put on my list.
Have a good weekend guys!
~Mary Keller
Happy Friday!
Happy Friday guys! Sorry for how quiet (and lame!) things have been around here this week. Lots of work travel + plus being sick + book club last night with friends (which definitely takes priority over the blog!) has kept us busy busy. The plan for the weekend is to get rest, get over these nasty colds, get sunshine, go for walks and eat yummy foods! What are your plans?
~Mary Keller
p.s. the plan for the weekend also hopefully includes getting some pictures finally framed!
Image of Paris here if you're in the day dreaming mood....

Happy Friday guys! So so excited the weekend is here! Anyone have fun plans? We're planning on having a little Turkish dinner one night - recreating all of our favorite dishes and going through our photos from Istanbul. (Trying to make a little progress on my photobook!) I'm also meeting a few of my best friends from high school for a little St. Patty's celebration. So excited to catch up with them. I think Virginia will enjoy a little one on one time with her daddy too.
Before we head into the weekend, a few things we book marked:
ONE: Loving Taza's lipstick guide. I'm a big lipstick fan and I'm trying to get a new color each season. A small little splurge but a nice treat to remind myself to take care of myself too!
TWO: I share Erin's obsession with this wallpaper in blue. I would love to wallpaper our bathroom. I'm trying not to because we won't be in this home forever, but man I love it!!
THREE: Loving this new to me Origrami. A great source for printing Instagram pics.
FOUR: Saving this article "The Five Mother Sauces Every Cook Should Know." So far, I can only make one, the tomato sauce, but maybe I'll try hollandaise next??
Have a good weekend everyone!!
~Mary Keller
Friday Findings | Seed 20
Happy happy Friday guys! I'm so excited the weekend's here! No big plans for the weekend, but those weekends typically are the best!
Instead of our normal Friday findings, we thought we'd switch things up this week and share 4 non-profits who deserve some recgnition. J.D. and I attended Charlotte's Seed 20 this past Tuesday night, and as usual it was a REALLY great evening. (Last year, I shared a description of Seed 20 that you can find here for more info.) Basically, it's a competition between 20 local non-profits that each make a "pitch" to win up to $50,000 in prize money toward their non-profit. Below are the 4 in the competiton that really caught my attention:
ONE: Uncommen - this is such a simple, brilliant idea! Dee Lanier founded Uncommen after being let down by his own father countless time. His simple idea was to create a mobile app that reminds men to be better leaders, fathers and spouses. Men simply download the app, and every few days they will get reminders on how to be an active, contributing dad. Ideas like write your wife a love letter, take your child on a $3.00 date, get off the couch and do a chore! simple things! I love this because it's simple and inexpensive to access, plus we have way too many dads who aren't showing up these days.
TWO: Present Age Ministries - this non-profit works to council, mentor and shelter women who are victims of human trafficking. North Carolina rates in the top 10 states for human trafficking, with Charlotte as the leading hub. I've worked in the past on human trafficking awareness, and sadly it's an unbelievable problem in our community. (It's mind blowing that there is a market for human trafficking, but there is.)
THREE: Charlotte Bilingual School - this non-profit took home first place and earned a standing ovation from the crowd. I had NO idea how few resources we have in place for Spanish speaking children entering our school system, and the impact that this has on our overall economy. (1 in 4 students entering kindergarten at CMS is Latino. I had no idea.) So many issues come from children failing out of school, and we're going to have a big problem on our hands in the future if we don't address this.
FOUR: Charlotte Food Innovation District - at first glance, this non-profit probably tugs at your heart-strings the least, BUT I think their initative is hugely important and I think it would have a big positive impact on our economy and culture. The Charlotte Food Innovation District's mission is to create a food "hub" in Charlotte that clusters food related business and creates an agrotourism destination - think farmers market/urban farm/foodie retail destination. Like I said, this may tug at your heart strings the least, but supporting local food sources has SO many benefits - it increases healthy eating, helps eliminate "food desserts" in underprivileged areas, reduces obesity if people are eating more seasonal, healthy foods, it's more sustainable to eat from local sources, etc.... You get the idea! Overall, a really forward thinking concept and a handful of other cities have had success with this model.
So, all in all it was a really eye opening evening. The kind of evening that makes you feel like 99% of the typical stuff we and everyone else blogs about is pretty darn unimportant. It's nice every to have a reminder to count our blessings and do something to give back. Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Happy Friday guys! Hope everyone had a good week and stayed warm/safe if you're in the middle of the winter storm! I'm really looking forward to this weekend, we have a lot going on! We're going to dinner lab tonight and all our friends that are members are going to be able to attend so it should be a good time. Tomorrow we have book club brunch at a friends house which is always a good time. Then on Sunday we have the LaqRoque mini trunk show. Busy busy but so fun!
A few findings from the week...
ONE: Found this sausage and mushroom risotto on Joy the Baker's round up of her favorite winter recipes. It looks so warm and hearty! Made me realize I need to get all my cold weather meals in while winter is still around so I'm going to use Joy's list to kick start a little list of my own. Any favorite's I should add to my list?
TWO: If you've been looking for that perfect piece of art for that one space on your wall you're in luck! I bookmarked Emily Henderson's seriously comprehensive round up of art resources on her blog this week. It's such a great list and includes every style of art I can think of - check it out!
THREE: Did you guys see this pretty blue swirl vase on Furbish studio's Instagram? It definitely caught my eye! A vase I use all the time just had a little accident and it's no longer with us so I've been on the look out for a replacement. This one seems like the perfect size to fit a standard flower bouquet and add some interest to a room when it's empty too.
FOUR: Biscuit home just released their new line of bedding and it's gorgeous! I particularly love the deep colors in this abstract floral. Check out the entire collection of bedding old and new here.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
- Heath
PS Be sure to stop by on Sunday for the LaRoque mini trunk show and feel free to email us with any questions.

Happy Friday guys! Hope everyone has something fun planned with friends or loved ones for this chilly Valentine's weekend. We're not doing much but I'm looking forward to trying a new recipe and relaxing. MK and JD have big plans to knock out a bunch of household chores (very romantic hah!) including some bedroom items. Looking forward to seeing the paint colors!
A few valentine's inspired findings from around the web...
ONE: This wine and chocolate tasting would be such a fun idea for an easy Valentine's celebration. You could keep it simple by picking up chocolate from a local shop like Davidson chocolate, or even your local grocery, and a few bottles of wine for tasting too. Simple and festive!
TWO: If you're still searching for a Valentine's dessert, this chocolate molten cake would fit the bill perfectly! If you're short on time (or energy), I've read the frozen Trader Joe's version is pretty good too!
THREE: If you're local, do me a favor and go pick up some flowers from Nectar Floral Designs on Davidson. We follow their work on Instagram and everything they produce is so pretty! I'm not even a big flower person but the photos have me wanting to sign up for a floral design class. Anyone want to join?
FOUR: We're trying these Portuguese baked eggs for brunch this weekend. We love any form of egg bake or frittata and this one caught my eye with the peppers, tomatoes and ricotta cheese, yum! Also eggs served runny with a good crispy piece of bread, the best!
Hope everyone has a fun weekend!

Happy Friday guys! It was a short week for me but I'm still super excited for the weekend. We have steak club this evening and I'm so excited to see friends! Weather permitting we're walking (yay!), nothing I love more than walking to dinner. Also Andy just reminded me I haven't seen Virginia in twoish weeks which is just crazy to me so I know I'll find some time to see that cutie! Hope you have fun plans too!
A few findings to get the weekends started...
ONE: I'm usually pretty traditional with my furniture and design choices but this modern home tour caught my eye on the Everygirl. I think it's the textures, that's always my goal in pairing clothing and interior design choices, lots and lots of textures!
TWO: Southern Living just published their best new hotels in the South for 2015, check it out here. The Pearl, in Rosemary beach is absolutely gorgeous and I bookmarked this Asheville spot for later too.
THREE: MK found this playful twist on old fashion rice krispie treats on Instagram this week. I love the concept and secretly really really love rice Krispie treats (especially with browned butter!) so I'm hoping to find an excuse to make these soon! Wouldn't they be so cute with brunch?!
FOUR: If you don't follow Sara Mueller's blog be sure to hop over there to check out the photos of her weekend in Ocracoke Island. Andy and I have been twice and absolutely loved it! As I write this I'm realizing I can't think of another place we've visited twice, weird but let it speak to how great the island is! And I second each and every one of her recommendations, especially Zilly's, the coffee shop, and bikes. The island really is perfect for biking!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
